Today, members of the MST Solutions team joined in the fight against hunger in our community by volunteering at the Matthew’s Crossing food bank.
Our team worked to package weekend food backpacks for our valley’s youth so they will have enough food to eat over the weekend when they are not in school. Each bag has enough food for 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners and a variety of snacks. The packaged bags will be distributed to students on Friday. Currently, Meals To Grow volunteer pack 200 backpack meals each week and delivers to 14 area schools K-12.
This capped off our food drive effort throughout October. Over the course of the month, we filled a whopping four donation boxes with donated food items for Mathew’s Crossing. This tremendous effort is a direct result of our colleagues coming together to help support our community.
Matthew’s Crossing served over 78,000 clients in 2016. Over 19,000 food boxes were given out to families in need. More than 5,500 people are served EACH month and unfortunately more families are in need each year. 1 in 4 children, 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 7 seniors struggle daily with hunger.
Matthew’s Crossing helps people find new strength. The opportunities we offer give hope to many, provide solutions to overwhelming problems, and create powerful results in our community. We provide assistance for individuals and families in need in the East Valley. Each month we feed more than 5,500 people. Most of our clients are working families. They are employed full-time or part-time, and yet still are in need of supplemental food. We also serve people between jobs, those on fixed incomes, seniors, people with disabilities, and homeless clients.
Their mission of uniting our community in the fight against hunger by providing food and basic necessities to our neighbors in need which is something MST Solutions is proud to support.
