Tags:Salesforce Acquisition of MuleSoft
As one of the largest Salesforce partners focused on customer experiences, we believe the convergence of Salesforce and MuleSoft will accelerate digital transformation for our clients.
Last week Salesforce announced that it is acquiring MuleSoft for $6.5 billion dollars leading many around our offices to jump for joy. Here’s our take on the acquisition and what it means for our clients.
Why is the Salesforce Acquisition Important
This acquisition will make it easy for enterprises to leapfrog their digital transformation by leveraging Salesforce and MuleSoft.
MuleSoft’s mission is to help organizations change and innovate faster by making it easy to connect the world’s applications, data and devices. With its API-led approach to connectivity, MuleSoft’s market-leading Anypoint Platform™ is enabling over 1,200 organizations in approximately 60 countries to build application networks.
Salesforce and the Anypoint Platform™ Will Lead Digital Transformations
The Anypoint Platform™ is a leading solution for API-led connectivity that creates an application network of apps, data, and devices, both on-premises and in the cloud. This hybrid integration platform addresses the biggest challenges our clients face for successful cloud implementation and enables them to seamlessly integrate their data sources.
The acquisition paves the way for a faster migration to the cloud and breaks the data silos in the enterprises. Similar to how Salesforce integrated other acquired products, we believe Salesforce will offer Integration as a Service (as Integration Cloud) using MuleSoft as the key technology building block.
How Does the MuleSoft Acquisition Impact You
The current thought is that the convergence of Salesforce and MuleSoft will accelerate digital transformation for our customers by providing more standard integrations with enterprise and other cloud solutions.
Given the platform-first approach of Salesforce solutions, we always approach Salesforce implementations as a system of engagement for end customers. The system of engagement approach provides for better employee and customer experience by enabling a single view of the customer by leveraging seamless integrations with the rest of the enterprise systems.
With richer integration tools from MuleSoft bundled with Salesforce, a business can focus on building innovative products and leverage Salesforce as a system of engagement to provide innovative experience.
What You Can Do to Leverage the Acquisition
Push the Boundaries of Salesforce
Through its integrated offering, Salesforce will provide a native approach to connecting to other client systems (both cloud and on-premise) thereby pushing the boundaries of Salesforce as a system of engagement. Organizations can greatly benefit from the accelerated time-to-market while building applications in the Salesforce platform.
Evaluate Long Term Implications of MuleSoft
Since an integration platform is meant to connect multiple platforms (in a technology agnostic manner), we would recommend that our clients carefully evaluate the long-term implications of an integrated offering from a vendor lock-in standpoint. This is where an architecture driven approach to solving complex business challenges is critical.
Bring Data into Salesforce Quickly
With the addition of MuleSoft (with its batch and real time integration capabilities), organizations can bring data from disparate systems into Salesforce quickly, which makes Einstein Analytics more powerful and in the near future.
We will share additional insights and our perspective on the merger as more details are available on the roadmap. Overall, it is great news for customers who are already using Salesforce or MuleSoft because of the potential synergies between these two platforms.
